About The Owner
Mary Pat Byrne is the owner of Pilates Performance and has been a certified instructor in The Pilates Method for over 9 years.
She received intensive training at the renowned Body Harmonics Pilates (teacher training studio in Toronto);
leading to full certification by The PhysicalMind Institute of New York City. This recognized certification
qualifies Mary Pat to competently teach group and private sessions in the Matwork and Large Apparatus Repertoire,
and the most current, Vertical Pilates. She has broadened her teaching skills through the completion of additional courses
including “Pre/Post Natal Pilates”, “Pilates for Scoliosis”, “Pilates with Small Apparatus”
(use of Stability Balls, Weights, Therabands, Flex Ring Toners and Foam Rollers), “Pilates for Golf”,
and “Rehabilitative Body Conditioning”, to name a few.
Mary Pat has over 15 years experience in the health and fitness fields, having worked for Chiropractic and Naturopathic Practitioners,
while separately teaching a dance/fitness program. Throughout the years of teaching this dance program, instructors were introduced
to the concepts of Pilates. After a serious health challenge which included major surgery, Mary Pat remained physically active
both through the dance program and other forms of fitness but always remained intrigued by Pilates. This curiosity led her
to the discovery of Body Harmonics Pilates, where she learned the true benefits of Pilates. She immediately began the process
of certification which included over four hundred hours of high quality training. Mary Pat continues to expand
her teaching skills through ongoing courses and workshops and is in regular contact with several teaching studios
in Toronto and Florida, to stay current with the ever-evolving techniques in body conditioning as it pertains to Pilates.
As a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, Mary Pat is inspired to teach The Pilates Method thoroughly to students,
regardless of their fitness level. She is committed to helping people achieve their exercise goals in a safe, fun,
and comfortable atmosphere. Her biggest rewards are often observing some of the smallest successes by her students.

“I have never found any exercise program to be as beneficial as Pilates. I love the combination
of mind and body working together. I am passionate about sharing this form of body conditioning with others.
Pilates is not just about moving the body, but about moving the body CORRECTLY. If we move correctly,
all of the core systems work effectively, therefore allowing us to look and feel better.
Pilates is not a passing trend………it is here to stay!”
